The Adidas Ultraboost 5X is a cushioned everyday running shoe designed for versatility and durability. The Ultraboost is no longer the golden child of the running shoe world as newer, lighter and bouncier foams from brands like Saucony, Asics and Brooks have surpassed Boost, but the icon from the three stripes can still sing. Boost foam is legendary for its long life and wide range of enjoyable uses, and both of those characteristics are still in the 5X. The updated Ultraboost has a comfortable fit, good bounce for everyday miles, solid stability and a fun ride for picking up the pace. It's the type of shoe you can pull for any run and will likely perform a little better than expected. The full retail price of $180 is steep, but you can almost always find a deal at $145 or below. At that price, we recommend the Ultraboost 5X for a fun, versatile everyday running shoe with a slightly firm and bouncy ride.
