The Mizuno Neo Vista is a super max stack training shoe designed for fast long runs. It has a tall stack of foam stabilized by a plastic plate, and it comes in at a decently light weight given the stack height. On paper, it has all the elements to be great. Out on the roads, it's just average. From the lackluster supercritical EVA foam (a standard training foam Mizuno attempted to liven up) to the unecessarily aggressive heel cutout that makes relaxed paces feel awkward, the shoe feels like a mish-mash of solid ideas thrown together. It's the ultimate "we made this shoe becuase every other brand has one." The ride isn't bad by any means, but there's a better shoe for every purpose. For everyday soft comfort, New Balance 1080v14. For ultimate bounce, Puma MagMax. For cushioned but speedy long runs, Hoka Mach X2. If you can find a deal on the Neo Vista under $150, it will be a solid buy for comfortable everyday miles, but we don't recommend it at the $180 MSRP.
