The Puma Fast-R Nitro 2 is a marathon racing shoe with an aggressively angled carbon-fiber plate designed for maximum propulsion. Through multiple testing runs, we found the shoe uncomfortable and awkward to run in, despite loving the foam in Puma's other race shoe, the Deviate Nitro Elite 3. This shoe is designed to be faster and more aggressive, but we prefer the more comfortable and approachable feel of the Deviate, especially since that one is piced at $230. If you're looking for a fast and aggressive ride on race day, get the Alphafly 3 (or for something more inconspicuous, the Saucony Endorphin Elite). Otherwise, we recommend the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3, which is one of the best marathon shoes out right now.
