I first started using Nuun in 2020 when I picked up running during the beginning of COVID (gym lockdown!). You lose a lot of electrolytes running down here in Charlotte in the Carolina heat, so Nuun has stayed in my rotation ever since. I haven't met a Nuun flavor I don't like, but here are some of my favorites.
Tastes just like one of those Apple and Eve juice boxes. The only downside to this one is it has a slightly chalky taste that those ranked 4 to 1 don't have.
My objectively subjective rating: 8/10
The nostalgia is big when grape is in my cup. The similarity to old school Welch's grape juice is uncanny. For that alone, this one slides into the top 5.
My objectively subjective rating: 8/10
This one is a sleeper. Usually I skip anything lemon lime flavored, as it tends to be the copy-and-pasted default flavor of the food world. Nuun's take is nice though; it's refreshing and crisp with just the right amount of tartness. Throw some extra ice in there and sign me up.
My objectively subjective rating: 9/10
The flavor on this on is just right: familiar and comforting, yet different enough to make you second guess your sip. Refreshing, fruity, fun and crushable. If the tropical flavor didn't exist, I might say this one is a perfect 10.
My objectively subjective rating: 9/10
Hands down. Unanimous. Undisputed champion. Tropical is the come-from-behind-kid winner with no contest. Last summer, I found this flavor at my local running store, Run For Your Life, and ripped through a tube in half a week. The stuff tastes like a mango coconut papaya pineapple smoothie. Delightful.
My objectively subjective rating: 10/10
Tri-berry and orange didn't make the cut, but I have friends who swear by those. In my personal opinion, you can't go wrong with buying Nuun's "juice box pack" on Amazon, which has four of the heavy hitters: grape, fruit punch, strawberry lemonade, tropical.
