The New Balance Propel v5 is designed to be a comfortable and versatile shoe that works well across a variety of paces and distances—and it knocks it out of the park. It's the most affordable shoe in the FuelCell line at $120, but it offers just as much fun and bounce as shoes $50+ more expensive. The midsole foam is soft but lively, and the ride is stable and smooth. There's less of a curved rocker profile here, which creates a flat landing area that works best for heel striking. At faster paces, this creates a feel that isn't as aggressive and speedy as shoes like the Rebel v4 and SC Trainer, but the comfort shines through at all paces. We recommend this for beginners looking for a soft, fun and bouncy shoe, or for marathon training runners who want a do-it-all shoe that won't break the bank. This shoe is still undergoing testing, so stay tuned for an update once we've gotten a 2+ hour long run in it.
