The Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 is a speed training shoe designed to blend race-day aggression with everyday comfort. It has the same bouncy PWRRUN PB foam as the previous generation of the shoe, but it feels like a big departure from the Endorphin Speed 2 and Speed 3. The ride is less smooth, the midsole feels a touch less forgiving and the upper is as Saucony Narrow™ as ever. The elements here just don't come together for us as well as they did in past versions. Some smaller runners with a light touch have told us they enjoy this shoe as a fast-day option or budget racer, but for most people we recommend scooping up a Speed 3 for $40 cheaper while you can.
